Leadership Transition at Las Vegas Sands

Las Vegas Sands is poised for a pivotal change in its leadership structure. Robert G. Goldstein, the current chairman and CEO, is set to transition into a senior advisor role starting March 1, 2026. He will continue playing an integral part in government relations and strategic initiatives until March 2028.

New Chapter for Las Vegas Sands

Under Goldstein’s guidance, Las Vegas Sands redefined the gaming industry by introducing the integrated resort model, significantly altering tourism across Las Vegas, Macao, and Singapore. Reflecting on his journey, Goldstein remarked, “This company transformed the industry from a gaming-centric model to the integrated resort model, meaningfully changing the tourism landscape.”

“The opening of The Venetian was a turning point in the history of the Las Vegas Strip,” said Goldstein.

Goldstein joined the company before the launch of The Venetian Las Vegas in 1999. His strategic vision turned The Venetian into a landmark, known for its all-suite, dual-purpose design catering to both business and leisure.

Major Corporate Milestones

Goldstein’s tenure marked significant achievements, including the sale of retail properties at The Venetian and The Palazzo for $1.5 billion in 2004, bolstering real estate values in the area. The same year, Sands went public, establishing itself as an industry heavyweight.

Global Expansion

Beyond Las Vegas, Goldstein’s strategy saw Sands expanding into Asia with the opening of Sands Macao in 2004, further establishing the company’s global footprint and reputation.

Leadership Transition and Future Directions

As Goldstein steps down, Patrick Dumont will step up as chairman and CEO. Dumont has been integral to Sands, having held key strategic and financial roles since 2010. Dr. Miriam Adelson, co-founder and majority shareholder, noted, “Our family has great appreciation for Rob’s leadership and many contributions.”

Dumont is expected to sustain the legacy of innovation and strategic expansion that defined Goldstein’s leadership, continuing the commitment to the integrated resort model.

Goldstein and his wife, Sheryl, have also made significant philanthropic contributions to local communities, reinforcing Sands’ value beyond gaming and hospitality.
